Retouch

The image was created using a studio shot with soft lighting and a light blue background as starting-point, adding the other elements one by one. These additional elements were shot separately on a matching background to give them the best possible conditions for the compositing. The client wanted the image to have a 'HDR' look, which was achieved with retouch using several passes of detailing and tone adjustments on the subject, being a person lit with studio lights on a solid backdrop. After getting the right look for the main subject all the items on the backpack was to be tweaked and placed by hand, adjusting light/shadow direction, intensity and tones for their corresponding positions on the main subject and internally among the added elements. Finally, many areas were hand-colored to enhance the image quality further and produce the result above.
