It felt good to meet spring in a sunny Munich

The real time visualisation exhibition was great. A lot of new things to look at. The fashion, sport and luxury goods sector are facing a shortening lifecycles. Some of the products that can be used during the design and development phase was really cool.

A scanner that could reflect any material on a real physical shoe was impressive.
Adidas told us how they are using virtual products. 3D design, development, sampling & sell-in to sell through on the basis of a product example.

The big thing is the automotive industry. It was fascinating to hear about and see how BMW, Toyota, Volkswagen and GM are using real time technology to speed up the development in all phases, from design to marketing material.

Always nice to meet up with people, other collegues, Volvo and Scania people.
Well,  we meet again next year.

We check into Adobe Photoshop CS6

A new version of Adobe Photoshop will be released later this year. To prepare for this, Adobe recently released a beta version of Photoshop CS6, free to download!
We've tried it out for a couple of days and so far found some things we like. Importing all previous setting is really smooth as always, and the interface can now be adjusted from light to dark to almost black. The new Crop tool borrows heavily from Adobe Lightroom and takes some getting used to, but the automatic selection of interpolation is nice.
Among the new features there is one seldom mentioned or noticed is one we really like; The ability to work with one file while saving another. This feature is a major leap forward in usability when working with large files on a daily basis, where saving times can grow to be a huge factor.

We like Vue

Basically we can build any digital landscape we want to in Vue, and in addition we can also render a 360 hdri-image of that environment that we later use to light the product that we want to  put in our Vue rendering.
Recently we’ve been working on several projects where we needed to produce/create digital nature elements, that means stones, rocks, trees and more. To achieve this the best way possible we are using a landscape generator named Vue. The easy interaction between Maya and Vue has been one of the many pros, but maybe the Eco-System feature is the most important. This allows us to render million unique instances of trees, bushes and stones at the same time, something you can’t achieve in any other 3D software.
Be sure to check in our efforts very soon on the blog.
